X-Ray Facilities

Looking through the pain

Accurate assessment is the foundation of effective structural care.

When clinically indicated, we utilise advanced on-site digital X-ray imaging at Duncraig Chiropractic. Having imaging facilities in-house allows us to assess your spine promptly, without the delay of external referrals — helping us make informed decisions about your care sooner.

X-rays use carefully controlled electromagnetic energy to produce detailed images of thespine’s structure. In structural-based chiropractic, imaging can play an important role in understanding alignment, load distribution, and long-term changes within the spine.

Digital imaging may assist us to:
• Provide a clear structural record of your spine
• Identify fractures or signs of previous trauma
• Assess disc spacing and spinal degeneration
• Evaluate postural and structural distortions
• Correlate and confirm examination findings

Imaging is only recommended when clinically appropriate, and always with your safety as the priority. In many cases, care can proceed without X-rays — however, when deeper structural insight is required, having this technology on-site allows for a more precise and comprehensive approach.

If you have questions about whether imaging is necessary for your case, our team will guide you through the decision with clarity and transparency.

Some more info

Interestingly, X-rays were discovered soon after the first chiropractic adjustment in 1895. Wilhelm Roentgen, a German physics professor, was experimenting with cathode ray tubes and discovered that an object across the room began to glow. Much to his surprise, when he placed his hand between the tube and the glowing barium screen, he was able to see the bones of his hand.

Wilhelm Roentgen won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1901 for the discovery of the X-ray.

From those crude beginnings over a century ago, both chiropractic and X-ray imaging have come a long way. Today, the chiropractic profession is a leader in the reduction of X-ray exposure and patient safety.
